This year the Insight for MAnaging Growth for Endocrine nurses (IMAGE) conference was held in Marseille, France, and was attended by paediatric endocrine nurse specialists from France, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Estonia, Canada and the UK.

The main focus of the meeting was disorders of the thyroid gland, but transitional care of patients with growth hormone disorders and adherence to growth hormone were also discussed.

This year the meeting introduced a professional development coach who facilitated sessions on assertive communication and motivational interviewing.

At the end of the symposium, delegates will understand:

  • The physiology, endocrinology and clinical features of paediatric thyroid disorders
  • The role and experience of the paediatric endocrinology nurse specialist in the acute and chronic management of thyroid disorders
  • The presentations, diagnosis and optimal management of the child with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism
  • The psychology and practical application of adherence management and useful tools for managing challenging interactions with patients and their families
  • The essential elements of transitional care and transfer of adolescent patients with GH deficiency and other chronic endocrine disorders from paediatric to adult care.
